Prices and Sizes
Each price covers 7 days, delivery, pickup, and the weight shown. Your quote confirms the exact price before you book.
| Size | 7 day price | Weight included | Holds about | Common projects |
| 10 yard | $300 to $350 | 2 tons | 3 pickup loads | A bathroom, one room, a small concrete patio, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 15 yard | $350 to $400 | 3 tons | 4 to 5 pickup loads | A garage or basement cleanout |
| 20 yard | $370 to $430 | 3 to 4 tons | 6 pickup loads | A whole house cleanout, a kitchen remodel, a one layer roof, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 30 yard | $485 to $550 | 4 to 5 tons | 9 pickup loads | A packed estate cleanout, a large renovation |
| 40 yard | $600 to $750 | 5 to 6 tons | 12 pickup loads | Very bulky, light debris |
Extra days may be available at $10 per day, subject to availability and your quoted terms. Weight over your included allowance costs $50 to $55 per ton. Every load must also stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit, and paying an overweight fee does not make an unsafe load acceptable.
To find the lowest total, compare the full quoted cost of a container that fits both the volume and the weight of your debris, including any extra hauls. Our dumpster prices and sizes guide explains how to choose.
When City Trash Pickup Is Not Enough
The City of Frankenmuth trash page describes weekly service through the Mid Michigan Waste Authority (MMWA), with Waste Management drivers. As listed there when we reviewed it in October 2026:
- Pickup is on Wednesday. Set trash out by 7 a.m., and not before 7 p.m. the night before.
- You may set out any number of bags, but each bag must be 33 gallons or smaller and weigh 50 pounds or less.
- The city takes up to two large items, such as furniture or appliances, per week. Crews tag them for a separate truck, and that pickup can take several days.
The page does not say whether remodeling or construction debris is accepted. Call the city at (989) 652 9901 to confirm before you set any out. A kitchen tear out, a roof, or a full house cleanout will usually be too much for bags and two large items a week.
If you would rather haul debris yourself, Peoples Landfill at 4143 East Rathbun Road in Birch Run lists construction and demolition debris among the waste it accepts, with weekday hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call ahead about fees and accepted loads.
Businesses: Check the City Rule First
The city trash page says dumpsters used by businesses must go through the city’s commercial dumpster collection program.
If you run a store, restaurant, office, or rental property inside city limits, call the city at (989) 652 9901 before you rent a roll off. Ask whether a short term dumpster for a remodel or cleanout is allowed.
Frankenmuth Township has its own government, so township addresses follow township rules. For larger business cleanouts, see our commercial dumpster rental page.
Permits and the Historic District
Building permits for the city come from the Building Codes Authority. Call (989) 652 9901 to ask whether your project needs one.
Homes and buildings in the historic district have one more step. Before you change the outside of a building or tear one down, the city’s historic district commission must approve the plans, and no work can start until it does. Get your approvals first, then schedule your dumpster delivery.
Yard Waste, Brush, and Leaves
Michigan law limits yard waste in landfills, so keep grass, leaves, and brush out of a trash dumpster. The city offers three routes:
For stumps or a large lot clearing, ask us before you book. See our yard waste dumpster page.
Projects That May Need a Dumpster
- Kitchen and bathroom remodels. A 15 or 20 yard usually fits, depending on the amount of debris. See our construction dumpster rental page.
- Roof replacements. Shingles are heavy, so a 10 or 20 yard is often the right size. See our roofing dumpster rental page.
- Estate, garage, and basement cleanouts. Furniture and boxes are bulky but light. See our residential dumpster rental page.
- Storm cleanup. Check current city announcements for special storm debris collections before booking. Use the city brush program for branches, and a dumpster for damaged siding, gutters, or household items.
Placement and Who Handles the Road
Keeping the dumpster on your own driveway is the simplest path. Measure first: a 10 or 15 yard is about 12 to 14 feet long, and the 20, 30, and 40 yard boxes are about 22 feet long. Place it on a hard, level surface entirely outside the road right of way, and tell us about new concrete, pavers, overhead wires, low branches, and gates. Ask about boards under the rails. If the dumpster cannot fit on your property and must go on a street, who you call depends on the road:
- Main Street downtown is part of M 83, a state highway. The Michigan Department of Transportation handles it.
- Other city streets: call the city at (989) 652 9901 before you book.
The Saginaw County Road Commission explains this split: state highways go to the state, and properties inside city limits go to the city.

Loading and What Stays Out
- Keep debris below the top edge or the provider’s lower marked fill line. Every load must stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit.
- Load heavy, flat items low and spread the weight evenly.
- Liquid paint, chemicals, tires, car batteries, lithium batteries, propane tanks, and asbestos stay out. See what can go in a dumpster.
- The city says hazardous waste, tires, and computers go to special county collections; call (989) 652 9901 for dates. The Saginaw County Health Department also holds household hazardous waste drop offs by appointment for county residents at (989) 758 3686.
- For propane tanks, ask a propane dealer whether it accepts your tank for return, exchange, or disposal.
