Prices and Sizes
Each price covers 7 days, delivery, pickup, and the weight shown. Your quote confirms the exact price before you book.
| Size | 7 day price | Weight included | Holds about | Common projects |
| 10 yard | $300 to $350 | 2 tons | 3 pickup loads | A bathroom, one room, a small concrete patio, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 15 yard | $350 to $400 | 3 tons | 4 to 5 pickup loads | A garage or basement cleanout |
| 20 yard | $370 to $430 | 3 to 4 tons | 6 pickup loads | A whole house cleanout, a kitchen remodel, a one layer roof, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 30 yard | $485 to $550 | 4 to 5 tons | 9 pickup loads | A packed estate cleanout, a large renovation |
| 40 yard | $600 to $750 | 5 to 6 tons | 12 pickup loads | Very bulky, light debris |
Extra days may be available at $10 per day, subject to availability and your quoted terms. Weight over your included allowance costs $50 to $55 per ton. Every load must also stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit, and paying an overweight fee does not make an unsafe load acceptable.
To find the lowest total, compare the full quoted cost of a container that fits both the volume and the weight of your debris, including any extra hauls. Our dumpster prices and sizes guide explains how to choose.
When Tuesday Trash Pickup Is Not Enough
The township waste page lists curbside service through the Mid Michigan Waste Authority (MMWA):
- Trash is picked up every Tuesday. Set it out by 7 a.m.
- You may set out two bulky items per week, such as a mattress, furniture, an appliance, or a carpet roll. The driver tags it, and a different truck picks it up later. Call the township if it is not picked up within 10 to 14 days.
- Carpet: the township asks that carpet be rolled, cut into 4 foot lengths, and kept to 50 pounds or less per roll. Each roll counts as one of your two bulky items.
Confirm current collection requirements with the township before setting items out.
Confirm construction and remodeling debris acceptance with MMWA at (989) 781 9555 before setting it out. Two bulky items a week will not clear a kitchen, a roof, or a house full of carpet, which is where a dumpster helps.
Hemlock and Richland Township
Hemlock does not have its own local government. It is an unincorporated community in the middle of Richland Township, and the township sets the trash, brush, and building rules.
The township office is at 1180 North Hemlock Road, (989) 642 2097, open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Building Department and Zoning Administrator are in on Thursday mornings.
Permits, Placement, and Who Handles the Road
Building permits: contact the Building Department at (989) 642 2097 for current permit requirements and fees before starting work, and confirm whether your specific project needs a permit.
Placement: keeping the dumpster on your own property is the simplest choice. Measure first: a 10 or 15 yard is about 12 to 14 feet long, and the 20, 30, and 40 yard boxes are about 22 feet long. Choose a provider approved hard, level surface entirely outside the road right of way, and tell us about soft ground, ditches, overhead wires, low branches, and gates. Ask about boards under the rails.
If it must go near a road:
- Gratiot Road here is part of M 46, a state highway handled by the Michigan Department of Transportation.
- Other roads: the Saginaw County Road Commission at (989) 752 6140 requires a permit for any work or activity in the right of way of the roads it manages.
Confirm driveway placement requirements with the township, and contact the responsible road authority if public space placement is needed.
Brush, Grass, and Leaves
Michigan law limits yard waste in landfills, so keep grass, leaves, and brush out of a trash dumpster. The township is not on MMWA’s curbside yard waste list. Instead, the township runs its own brush and compost site:
Confirm current hours with the township before your trip. For stumps or a large lot clearing, ask us before you book. See our yard waste dumpster page.
Projects That May Need a Dumpster
- Roof replacements. The township’s building FAQ says you need a permit to roof your house. Shingles are heavy, so a 10 or 20 yard is often the right size. See our roofing dumpster rental page.
- Kitchen, bathroom, and flooring remodels. A 15 or 20 yard usually fits, depending on the amount of debris. See our construction dumpster rental page.
- Estate, garage, and basement cleanouts. Furniture and boxes are bulky but light. See our residential dumpster rental page.
- Barn, shed, and outbuilding cleanups. Old lumber and junk are often light, but ask first about concrete, metal, or other heavy debris.
Loading and What Stays Out
- Keep debris below the top edge or the provider’s lower marked fill line. Every load must stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit.
- Load heavy, flat items low and spread the weight evenly.
- Liquid paint, chemicals, tires, car batteries, lithium batteries, propane tanks, and asbestos stay out. See what can go in a dumpster.
- For hazardous materials, the township refers residents to the Saginaw County Health Department at (989) 758 3686.
- For propane tanks, ask a propane dealer whether it accepts your tank for return, exchange, or disposal.
Service Area and ZIP 48626
ZIP 48626 is much larger than the community. It also reaches parts of Fremont, Swan Creek, Thomas, and Ingersoll townships, and Ingersoll is in Midland County. Each township has its own trash and permit rules, so a Hemlock mailing address does not always mean Richland Township. Give us your full delivery address, and we will confirm whether we serve it.
The local public school district serves the township and parts of those nearby townships. We also serve Thomas Township, Saginaw Township, and the City of Saginaw.
