About Carrollton Township
The township sits along the Saginaw River, between the City of Saginaw and Zilwaukee. The community of Carrollton has no city government of its own, so the township sets the trash, brush, and building rules (Wikipedia). Carrollton Public Schools has its high school at 1235 Mapleridge Road and its middle and elementary schools on Carla Drive (district overview). Saginaw Valley State University and I 75 are a short drive away.
The township office is at 1645 Mapleridge Road, (989) 754 4611. Its listed hours are Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with separate summer hours noted. Call ahead to confirm.
Prices and Sizes
Each price covers 7 days, delivery, pickup, and the weight shown. Your quote confirms the exact price before you book.
| Size | 7 day price | Weight included | Holds about | Common projects |
| 10 yard | $300 to $350 | 2 tons | 3 pickup loads | A bathroom, one room, a small concrete patio, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 15 yard | $350 to $400 | 3 tons | 4 to 5 pickup loads | A garage or basement cleanout |
| 20 yard | $370 to $430 | 3 to 4 tons | 6 pickup loads | A whole house cleanout, a kitchen remodel, a one layer roof, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 30 yard | $485 to $550 | 4 to 5 tons | 9 pickup loads | A packed estate cleanout, a large renovation |
| 40 yard | $600 to $750 | 5 to 6 tons | 12 pickup loads | Very bulky, light debris |
Extra days may be available at $10 per day, subject to availability and your quoted terms. Weight over your included allowance costs $50 to $55 per ton. Every load must also stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit, and paying an overweight fee does not make an unsafe load acceptable.
To find the lowest total, compare the full quoted cost of a container that fits both the volume and the weight of your debris, including any extra hauls. Our dumpster prices and sizes guide explains how to choose.
City Dumpster or Private Roll Off?
The city rents its own small dumpsters. Its License and Fee Schedule, dated July 30, 2026, lists:
| Option | Size | Price listed | Rental time | Who can rent |
| City dumpster, general refuse | 4 yards | $150 | 2 days | City residential customers only, as available |
| City dumpster, shingles and building materials | 4 yards | $250 | 2 days | City residential customers only, as available |
| Our 10 yard roll off | 10 yards | $300 to $350 | 7 days | Homes and businesses, subject to service area |
The city request form says payment comes before drop off, and each extra empty costs the full price again. A city box suits a small job at a city home. For a roof, a full cleanout, a longer project, a township address, or a business, a larger roll off may fit better. Confirm the city container’s loading limits, accepted materials, and additional charges before comparing totals.
When Thursday Pickup Is Not Enough
The township’s curbside service runs through the Mid Michigan Waste Authority (MMWA). The township trash page lists these rules:
- Set materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on Thursday, your service day. Check MMWA’s current holiday calendar for changes affecting Thursday collection.
- Trash goes in the blue lid cart, recycling in the green lid cart. Keep carts within 6 feet of the curb, with 3 feet of space on each side.
- You may set out up to two large items per week, such as a mattress, furniture, or an appliance. The bulk truck runs 1 to 2 business days behind the trash truck.
- Carpet: roll it, cut it into 4 foot lengths, and keep each roll to 50 pounds or less.
Confirm bulky item, construction, and remodeling debris acceptance with MMWA at (989) 781 9555 before setting anything out. Two items a week will not clear a kitchen, a roof, or a full house, which is where a dumpster helps.
Across the River: East Side and West Side
The Saginaw River splits the city into an east side and a west side, joined by the Liberty, Veterans Memorial, Independence, and Lafayette Avenue bridges (Wikipedia). Check MDOT’s current Lafayette Avenue bridge updates for closures or delivery detours.
City Hall is at 301 Washington Avenue, (989) 894 8200, open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Public Works and Sanitation are at 1645 Marquette Avenue.
Projects That May Need a Dumpster
- Roof replacements. The township’s Building and Zoning page says a residential re roof needs a permit. Shingles are heavy, so a 10 or 20 yard is often the right size. See our roofing dumpster rental page.
- Kitchen and bathroom remodels. Ask Building and Zoning whether your specific renovation requires permits before work starts. A 15 or 20 yard usually fits, depending on the amount of debris. See our construction dumpster rental page.
- Estate, garage, and basement cleanouts. Furniture and boxes can be bulky; carpet, books, and dense items can add substantial weight. See our residential dumpster rental page.
- Business cleanouts. Confirm current commercial service requirements with the township. See our commercial dumpster rental page.
The township has held an annual Dumpster Day drop off for residents. Check the current notice on the township office page before planning on it, since dates and rules can change.
Placement and Who Handles the Road
Keeping the dumpster on your own property is the simplest choice. Measure first: a 10 or 15 yard is about 12 to 14 feet long, and the 20, 30, and 40 yard boxes are about 22 feet long. Choose a provider approved hard, level surface entirely outside the road right of way, and tell us about new concrete, pavers, ditches, overhead wires, low branches, and gates. Ask about boards under the rails. If the dumpster cannot fit on your property and must go near a road:
- County roads: the Saginaw County Road Commission at (989) 752 6140 requires a permit for any work or activity in the right of way of the roads it manages. It also notes that state routes go to the Michigan Department of Transportation.
- Township: confirm driveway placement requirements with the township, and contact the responsible road authority if public space placement is needed.

Brush, Yard Waste, and Tires
Michigan law limits yard waste in landfills, so keep grass, leaves, and brush out of a trash dumpster.
For a large lot clearing, ask us before you book. See our yard waste dumpster page.
Loading and What Stays Out
- Keep debris below the top edge or the provider’s lower marked fill line. Every load must stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit.
- Load heavy, flat items low and spread the weight evenly.
- Liquid paint, chemicals, tires, car batteries, lithium batteries, propane tanks, and asbestos stay out. See what can go in a dumpster.
- For household hazardous waste, check the Saginaw County Health Department at (989) 758 3686 for current drop off options.
- For propane tanks, ask a propane dealer whether it accepts your tank for return, exchange, or disposal.
