Prices and Sizes
Each price covers 7 days, delivery, pickup, and the weight shown. Your quote confirms the exact price before you book.
| Size | 7 day price | Weight included | Approximate pickup truck loads | Common projects |
| 10 yard | $300 to $350 | 2 tons | About 3 | A bathroom, one room, a small concrete patio, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 15 yard | $350 to $400 | 3 tons | About 4 to 5 | A garage or basement cleanout |
| 20 yard | $370 to $430 | 3 to 4 tons | About 6 | A whole house cleanout, a kitchen remodel, a one layer roof, subject to material approval and loading limits |
| 30 yard | $485 to $550 | 4 to 5 tons | About 9 | A packed estate cleanout, a large renovation |
| 40 yard | $600 to $750 | 5 to 6 tons | About 12 | Very bulky, light debris |
Pickup truck equivalents vary by truck bed size and loading.
Extra days may be available at $10 per day, subject to availability and your quoted terms. Weight over your included allowance costs $50 to $55 per ton. Every load must also stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit, and paying an overweight fee does not make an unsafe load acceptable.
Choose the size based on both space and weight. Heavy debris can reach the hauling limit before the container is full. Tell us the material and amount so we can recommend a suitable size and loading limit. Our dumpster prices and sizes guide explains how to choose.
Village Trash Limits
Granger Waste Services collects village trash every Thursday. The village trash collection page lists these limits:
- Carts must be reachable from the street by 7 a.m., hold no more than 200 pounds, and stay at the curb no longer than 24 hours.
- One bulk item per month.
- Not accepted: construction debris, wood, sod, dirt, whole tires, asbestos, electronics, hazardous waste, liquids, and yard clippings.
- Granger will not remove eviction, move out, or cleanout waste unless you request a special pickup through Granger at (517) 372 2800.
One bulk item a month is unlikely to cover a remodel, a roof, or a full house. Ask us which remodel and cleanout materials we accept and what loading limits apply.
Township Trash
Outside the village, the Chesaning Township 2026 brochure says refuse and recycling are picked up weekly on Thursday. Check the current collection calendar for holiday changes affecting Thursday service. Non village residents pay for the service on the winter tax bill, and the list of acceptable items is on the Mid Michigan Waste Authority site, recyclemotion.org. Confirm bulky item, construction, and remodeling debris acceptance before setting anything out.
Projects That May Need a Dumpster
- Roof replacements. Shingles are heavy, so a 10 or 20 yard is often the right size. See our roofing dumpster rental page.
- Kitchen, bathroom, and basement remodels. Ask the village or township building official which permits your specific project requires before work starts. See our construction dumpster rental page.
- Estate, rental, and move out cleanouts. Furniture and boxes can be bulky; carpet, books, and dense items can add substantial weight. See our residential dumpster rental page.
- Barn, shed, and garage cleanups. Tell us what the building contains. Lumber, metal, stored equipment, and concrete can add substantial weight.
Brush, Yard Waste, and Burning
Michigan law limits yard waste in landfills, so keep grass, leaves, and brush out of a trash dumpster.
- No leaf or yard waste burning in the village. The village yard waste page says it does not allow burning leaves or yard waste.
- Village yard waste: picked up Fridays from April through November, up to six 30 gallon paper bags or bundles. Brush and tree trimmings should be no longer than 4 feet and less than 2 inches in diameter. Plastic bags are not accepted.
- Village brush pickup: check the village brush pickup page for the next scheduled collection. Follow its set out window and preparation rules. The crew passes once.
- Brush pickup does not take: roots, stumps, leaves, dirt, garbage, cardboard, scrap wood, lawn trimmings, or brush cut by a commercial contractor. The village DPW facility does not accept brush.
- Township burning: the township lists a burn permit line at (989) 845 2552. Call before you burn.
For a large lot clearing, ask us before you book. See our yard waste dumpster page.
Placement, Permits, and Who to Call
Keeping the dumpster on your own property is the simplest choice. Measure first: a 10 or 15 yard is about 12 to 14 feet long, and the 20, 30, and 40 yard boxes are about 22 feet long. Choose a provider approved hard, level surface entirely outside the road right of way.
Before delivery, tell us:
- The driveway length and width, the surface, and whether it slopes.
- Overhead clearance from wires, trees, and roof lines.
- Ditches, culverts, septic areas, gates, or tight turns along the way in.
- Where you want the box and which way the door should face.
Street placement: M 57 follows Broad Street into town and over the Shiawassee River, then runs along Main Street on the east bank (Wikipedia). State routes like these fall under the Michigan Department of Transportation. For other village streets, call the Village Office. For county roads in the township, the Saginaw County Road Commission at (989) 752 6140 requires a permit for any work or activity in its right of way. Confirm the responsible road authority before planning any placement within the public right of way.
| Office | Address and phone | Notes |
| Village Office | 218 North Front Street, Suite A, (989) 845 3800 | Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; DPW requests go here |
| Township Office | 1025 Brady Street, (989) 845 2341 | Closed Wednesday and Thursday |
| Building official | Rob Kehoe, (810) 516 1191 | Listed by both the village and township |
Loading and What Stays Out
- Keep debris below the top edge or the provider’s lower marked fill line. Every load must stay within the provider’s approved hauling limit.
- Load heavy, flat items low and spread the weight evenly.
- Liquid paint, chemicals, tires, car batteries, lithium batteries, propane tanks, and asbestos stay out. See what can go in a dumpster.
- For household hazardous waste, check the Saginaw County Health Department at (989) 758 3686 for current drop off options.
- For propane tanks, ask a propane dealer whether it accepts your tank for return, exchange, or disposal.
